: I remember that whole #zoom thing quite well.
: I still dont understand why it all of a sudden started working.
: *Shrugs shoulders*
Heh...
: I think you're right about the stereotypical RPGs.
: There are a crapload like that floating around.
What gets me is that most of them thing they're being
original, creative, on the cutting edge.. They're spewing
the same old junk...
: Its interesting to see new ideas spring up though and I've seen quite a few of those from people I've met here.
: Doing the same old thing gets old indeed...
You're right, it is.. Like TK's Whale Patrol with all the different
characters.. That was original.. Good Vs. Evil where good is evil and evil is just
misunderstood is not original, dark, new, fresh, it's bullshit.. Besides the fact
that it's wrong to begin with. There is a good, there is a evil, there is no gray
area. It's only when people twist the evil so much and start telling other people what
is good and what is not that it becomes gray.
: but on the flp side...
: I hate it when people try and do something as opposite of the norm as possible.
: I mean I am all for originality but you have to admit that there is a pattern for a reason.
: I really dont want to believe that its because people cant think of anything else.
: I guess I think its because people like that sort of story.
You're right; there's a difference between original and abstract. Ironically though, the abstract
often ends up being praised because of the "Kings New Clothes" princicpal: people don't want to look
stupid by admitting they don't understand it, so they just praise it and let it go at that. Originally,
though, all the "artist" did was throw paint on the canvas and know that people will act the way
they do. Not only it painting does this occur, but in most everything. We have to have the courage to
come out and say, "You just threw out the paint on the canvas" and state the obvious.
: ...ok..ok...
: There are a fair share of ripp-offs. I dont deny that, but similarity is not neccesarilly bad.
No, it's not... It's just I get so sick of these ideas about good and
evil...
: I dont think that fear of not being original should dispell potential game makers.
: Its something to keep in mind...just not to brood over.
I agree...
: Anyway, I'm not disagreeing with you.
: Your comments just got my mind churning.
Does the final result often taste buttery?
: ...although I have to admit...
: Even I worry about not being original enough.
: I guess thats why I made myself redo the tiles and cinemas.
Hmm.. I don't usually, unless they really suck.. Heh, oh well..
: Oh well.
: "Do as I say, not as I do"
;)
