Did you set the background color as black in the Board Settings?
If it's just the background that's black, you should be able to lay tiles down as you
would normally. It's just any empty spaces or any spaces transperant on the tiles (any spots
where you're supposed to "see through") would show up as black..
You should still, however, be able to place tiles..
