I can't speak for Triuken (who can?) cuz I don't know what FFTactics' battle system looks like, but
some specs:

- Turn-based, the order of attack (i.e who gets a turn) being a formula depending
on the HP, AGL, END, ADR (Agility, Endurance and Andrenaliine, part of the system I use)
- Clickable, which means you click on the person (the square actually) and you move
them somewhere.
- If close enough to attack, you attack your little enemy dude. Level of closeness
is one unless you have a bow, short bows are three and long bows four (squares).
- Um, damage inflicted depending on strength and ADR.
- What else do you want me to tell you? (I know this wasn't a very official spec sheet,
so.. heh..sorry)

The stats are: HP - Health Points
STR - Strength - Affects damage
INT - Intelligence is sort of a catch-all for everything. Affects
in small ways pretty much everything.
AGL - Agility - Affects movement and bow damage, among other things
DEX - Dexterity - ""
END - Endurance - Affects dying, movement, some other things
ADR - Adrenaline - Affects damage, movement, high amounts can either
increase strength or lower HP, depending on your endurance (think little
potions that increase your adrenaline) (If you still don't get it, think little
white pills) (Ah, I see you get it now)
AP - Aura Power - Part of the magic system. Six auras:
Red Aura - Fire, attack type magic
Blue Aura - Opposing Aura to the above (think Ice and water)
White Aura - Healing magic, works against hellspawned creatures
Black Aura - Opposing Aura, poisonous like, works against angelic
creatures.
Gray Aura - Known as Anntr's aura; Creation aura, very rare and powerful.
Aura of Nothing - Very, bad, very evil aura. Composed entirely of nothing. This
ain't just black people, this is True Nothing.

Also, battle choices:

Interface: Rotating, opening compass. Rotates through
the choices when you move your mouse over it, when you click
it opens up to reveal sub choices. Will be really cool when I
actually get it working.. Also scrolls the sub-sub-choices (i.e
you click on the sword, it opens up, you click on aura, it scrolls through
Red, etc., you click on a spell.) Has a handy help guide (if you have
it in your inventory) that tells about all the spells and stuff.

Sword Icon: Um, duh? Attack icon, subchoices being bow and aura
attacks.
Shield Icon: Defend; one round of defending, the power depending
on your END, AGL, and DEX.
Eye Icon: Examine opponents. Pops up a little thing of stats on them so
you can see how close they are to being dead. Your accuracy depends on your
INT.
Bag Icon: Reach into your pocket to pull out the pepper-spray. Heh..
Get items from inventory to use in battle. If you can get it out fast enough
depends on AGL.
Legs Icon: Embrace cowardice, and get the heck out of there.
AGL and DEX, as well as END.

That's all; sort of follows KISS.. (Keep it simple, stupid)
I'll be happy to take suggestions though...
